🔧 How to Replace the CPU Fan in Intel NUC8 (NUC8i7BEH / NUC8i3BEH / NUC8i5BEH)

This process involves disassembling your NUC. Doing so may void the warranty. Proceed only if you're comfortable with delicate electronics and static safety.
🧰 Tools and Materials Needed

Phillips screwdriver (size PH0 or PH1)

Plastic spudger (optional but helpful)

Thermal paste (new)

Isopropyl alcohol & lint-free cloth

Replacement fan: BSC0805HA-00, DC 5V 0.60A

Anti-static wrist strap (recommended)
🔌 1. Power Off and Unplug

Shut down the NUC completely.

Unplug the power adapter and all connected cables.

Press and hold the power button for a few seconds to discharge remaining power.
📦 2. Remove the Bottom Cover

Turn the NUC upside down.

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws from the bottom.

Carefully lift off the bottom cover.
💽 3. Remove the SSD and RAM (Optional but Safer)

If needed, remove the M.2 SSD and RAM to prevent damage.

Set them aside in anti-static packaging or on a clean surface.
🧱 4. Remove the Mainboard

Disconnect all internal cables (fan, front panel, etc.).

Unscrew the board mounting screws.

Gently slide or lift the motherboard out of the case. Be careful of connectors underneath.
❄️ 5. Locate and Remove the CPU Fan

The fan is mounted on top of the heatsink.

Disconnect the fan cable from the motherboard.

Remove the screws holding the fan in place.

Carefully lift the fan off.
🧼 6. Clean the Heatsink and CPU

Remove any old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

Let everything dry.
🔁 7. Install the New Fan

Place the new fan on the heatsink.

Align screw holes and secure it with screws.

Reconnect the fan cable to the motherboard.

Apply a small amount (pea-sized) of new thermal paste to the CPU.
🧩 8. Reassemble the NUC

Carefully place the motherboard back into the chassis.

Reconnect internal cables.
-
Reinstall the SSD and RAM if you removed them.

Close the case and screw the bottom cover back on.
⚙️ 9. Test the System

Plug in the power and boot the NUC.

Enter the BIOS to verify that the fan is detected and spinning.

Monitor CPU temperatures using software like HWMonitor or Intel Power Gadget.
